HOME OF MULTIPLE GROUP WINNING
BISS AM/CAN CH Pegasus Country Road To Glory
Welcome to Hearts Desire Mastiffs, we are Lynda and Bill Perkins and are located in NE Oregon. We have been involved in Mastiffs for 13 yrs now. I am a member of the MCOA, CEMC, and Richland Kennel Club. We do very little breeding as we only breed with the betterment of the breed in mind. We breed for temperament, type, and health. You can read the AKC standard here.
As you can see from our pictures, we enjoy showing and spending time with our Mastiffs. They are our love and our passion.
The Mastiff is a large, massive, symmetrical dog with a well-knit frame. The impression is one of grandeur and dignity. They are the heaviest breed. While being a very large dog they are considered a gentle giant. They are very much a family dog and great companions. Their size and demeanor alone will ward off intruders.
If you are considering bringing a Mastiff into your home and family, please research the breed and the breeder. Please make sure that the breeder is some one that you feel comfortable with and will be there for help and advice for the life of the puppy. A very good article to read is: Seven Foundations of a Successful Dog Breeder by Jonathan Jeffrey Kimes. Click here to read. Check for health testing. While testing is not a guarantee that the puppy will not develop a health problem it is very important for the breeder to know what is in their lines and try to breed away from it. Check out our page on health here. Make sure that a Mastiff is right for your family. They are very much a house dog. They love to be with their family. A Mastiff puppy will grow very fast, by 6 months of age they can weigh 100+ pounds but remember they will still have a puppy mind.
We hope you enjoy our site. You can contact us at any time, we love talking Mastiffs.
